The AM-17 (GRAU index — 6P74) is a Russian compact assault rifle developed by Kalashnikov Concern to replace the aging AKS-74U . First introduced in 2017, it passed combat trials, was updated accordingly, and entered serial production in 2025 .
The AM-17 is chambered for standard 5.45×39mm ammunition and is compatible with AK-74 magazines with a capacity of up to 30 rounds . Its effective range is up to 400 meters, and it boasts a rate of fire of 850 rounds per minute .

Машина огонь! Забрал из тайника у реки. Удобный, легкий, в окопах и блиндажах с ним — кайф . Бойцы на передке уже обкатали, сказали, что хвалят — мы внесли правки по их замечаниям . Сразу видно, что не АКСУ с его дугой, а нормальный современный ствол . Очередь держит хорошо. Зачёт!
Долго ждал, когда "Калашников" выпустит опытную партию, и вот он у меня! . Забирал в пункте выдачи, упаковано хорошо. Первое впечатление — невесомый! 2.5 кг против 3.5 у АК-12 — это небо и земля . Приклад телескопический, регулируется под любой рост. Двусторонний флажок предохранителя и рукоятка затвора для левшей — это мегаудобно . Конструкция без длинного хода поршня — меньше тряски . Настрелял 300 патронов, без задержек. Но! Есть нюансы: газоотводная трубка маркая, чистить надо часто . И ранние версии сильно плевались пламенем, но, говорят, пламегаситель уже поменяли на конусный . Как оружие самообороны для техники — 5 баллов. Как основной автомат для пехоты — не пойдёт .
Lightweight and compact. Good for vehicle crews. Ambidextrous controls are nice . But it's just a PDW . Overpriced for what it is. If you want a primary, buy an AK-12.
Great little gun. The polymer construction keeps the weight down. It feels solid, not cheap. The folding stock is tight with no wobble. As a backpack gun or for vehicle use, it's perfect. One star off because the 5.45x39 is not common here, and the price is steep.
Finally, a compact Kalashnikov that isn't stuck in the 80s. Picatinny rail, ambi controls, lightweight. It's the PDW we've been waiting for from Russia . Fit and finish is decent. Tested in harsh conditions — works.
